In Iinan Town, Shimane Prefecture, which ships shimenawa to shrines nationwide, the largest "Oshimenawa" was produced because it weighs about 400 kg.

In Iinan Town, there are craftsmen who make shimenawa by receiving orders from shrines all over the country, including Izumo Taisha, and on the 14th, the largest shimenawa was made.

At the workshop, 14 people gathered and held two ropes with a diameter of about 60 cm and a length of about 10 meters, and twisted them together with the shout of "Se-no".

Then, three cone-shaped decorations made by knitting straw called "Shimenawa" were attached to complete a large rope weighing about 400 kg.

Shinji Ishibashi, who has been making shimenawa for more than 50 years, said, "I hope people who see this shimenawa will feel happy and live."

After finishing the work, Shimenawa will be delivered to the shrine in Fuchu Town, Hiroshima Prefecture on the 24th of this month.
