Egypt .. The truth about "the moment the microbus fell into the Nile and was recovered"

In the context of the controversy raging on social networking sites in Egypt about what was reported about a bus crash in the Nile, which was not confirmed in the first place, users circulated an image that was said to document the moment the bus overturned from the bridge and fell into the river, and a video spread that its publishers claim shows a moment Lift the bus out of the water.

This comes in light of the ambiguity surrounding what was said to be an accident that a passenger microbus overturned from the bridge and fell into the Nile River.

Last Sunday, local media reported that the police had received a report that a car had overturned and fallen into the river, and that river rescue teams were searching for victims and survivors.

However, hours of searching did not result in any trace of this accident, amid conflicting statements about whether it had occurred in the first place, as some witnesses claimed, or not, according to other witnesses who said that the iron fence that fell was smashed by a vehicle that collided with it, but it did not. fall into the river.

After more than eight hours of searching, the Egyptian river rescue forces were unable, on Sunday, to find any of the bodies of the passengers of a "microbus", after news that he had fallen into the Nile River.

In light of conflicting information, a picture spread showing a car overturned from a bridge after apparently smashing part of its metal fence, and a number of young men are standing on the bridge.

But the photo was in fact taken in 2013 and after the popular demonstrations calling for the removal of former President Mohamed Morsi.

A video clip was also spread on social media pages, showing the recovery of a passenger bus that fell into the Nile from the top of the Sahel Bridge.

Egyptian media published other scenes showing the vehicle after it was recovered.

In the video, a crane pulls a car out of the water under one of the bridges, and a number of boats are seen in the water.

The accompanying text stated, "Urgent: The microbus was found in the waters of the Nile after it fell from the top of the Coastal Bridge."

But the circulating scenes have nothing to do with all that.

After cutting the video into still scenes, AFP research showed it was taken from a clip published in 2018.

Al-Shorouk newspaper quoted a source familiar with the rescue efforts in the incident of the "sinking" of the vehicle, that the security services are holding two people who have reported the incident.
