Exterior view of Mogao Grottoes.

Dunhuang in history was the throat of the ancient Silk Road and an important military town.

When you come to Dunhuang, you must see Mogao Grottoes.

Mogao Grottoes, commonly known as "Thousand-Buddha Caves", are located on the cliffs at the eastern foot of Mingsha Mountain and the west bank of Dangquan River, 25 kilometers southeast of Dunhuang, Gansu, with a total length of 1680 meters from north to south.

As one of the four major grottoes in my country, Mogao Grottoes was excavated in 366 AD and has a history of 1655 years. It was named my country’s first batch of world cultural heritage in 1987. It is the largest in existence in the world with the longest history. The richest content and the most exquisite Buddhist art remains.

Mingsha Mountain is made up of quicksand. It gets its name because of the sound of sand. Lean down and watch it carefully. The fine sand has five colors of red, yellow, green, black and white.

In the embrace of the peaks of Mingsha Mountain, there is a vast clear water, named Crescent Spring because of the shape of a crescent moon.

Strolling Crescent Spring, the blue waves are sparkling, and the reeds move with the wind, which has a special charm.
