During the purchase of the product, the customer service of the online store claimed that Zhang Yan and her family had been "ghost possessed" and "ghost-ridden", and needed a "method" to resolve the money. The single amount ranged from a few hundred yuan to more than one million yuan.
From May 14, 2021 to September 13, 2021, Zhang Yan’s online “practices” reached more than 40 times, and a total of 5.82 million yuan was paid for “practices”.
According to investigations, in February 2021, Shao and Hua opened a shop called "Yuan Shen Tian Shi" on a shopping website, selling lucky bags and providing "practice" services.
During Zhang Yan's purchase of praying products, the online shop customer service continued to spread feudal and superstition thoughts to Zhang Yan, which made Zhang Yan frightened and paid many times as required.
After receiving the payment, Shao randomly found an open space near his place of residence to conduct the so-called "practice" by burning paper ingots. At the same time, he used his mobile phone to shoot a video and sent it to Zhang Yan, promising that the evil was eliminated.
At present, the criminal suspects Shao and Hua have been detained by the police in accordance with the law on suspicion of fraud, and the case is under further investigation.
