A woman donated an eye control medical device to Clermont-Ferrand University Hospital (Puy-de-Dôme),

 Sunday.

This donation follows the hospitalization of her husband in this same CHU, in 2020. He was then affected by complications related to Covid-19.

“After several months of hospitalization, he came out of the artificial coma in which he had been plunged.

When he woke up, he had to undergo a tracheostomy.

Motionless, he could not regain the use of his limbs, ”she explained.

Her husband was thus unable to communicate other than with the blink of an eye, which had prompted Sophie Dargaud to do research to find a device that would facilitate communication.

An intuitive system

She then discovered this device which allows a patient to control a computer by looking at it.

It is then possible for him to type a text, or to express himself quickly with pictograms.

Very intuitive, this system is also accessible to children.

Unfortunately, on July 8, 2020, Jean-Pascal Dargaud died in hospital.

Thanks to a collection organized during the funeral, the device had nevertheless been purchased.

In recognition of the care given to her husband, and to prevent other patients from experiencing the same situation, Sophie Dargaud thus wished to donate the device to the CHU.
