The trial of a 28-year-old educator began on Monday before the youth protection chamber of the Dresden Regional Court, who is said to have sexually abused seven girls between the ages of two and three years multiple times. According to the public prosecutor's office, the man, who worked as a social assistant in a daycare center in the state capital, had the task of supervising the children during their afternoon nap, accompanying them to the toilet, changing diapers, and dressing and undressing them. He had sexually abused some of the girls entrusted to him, often severely, and filmed the acts with his cell phone.

The crimes became known when the parents of one of the girls turned to the police last year with suspicion of abuse.

As a result, the defendant was arrested in October 2020 while still at work.

When searching his apartment, the investigators found evidence of the allegations as well as thousands of files allegedly downloaded from the Darknet showing serious sexual abuse of children.

In addition, the man is said to have passed on an eight-year-old girl from the neighborhood between 2013 and 2015.

The defendant has been in custody since January this year.

At the start of the trial, he announced a comprehensive confession, after which the public was excluded at the request of the defense.

The verdict is due to fall in November.

The trial of a 56-year-old caretaker for serious sexual abuse at the Dresden Regional Court had already ended on Friday.

The father of the family, who was also investigated in connection with the pedophile network from Münster, received seven years' imprisonment and was required to pay 10,000 euros in compensation for pain and suffering to the abuse victim from Münster.

The defendant remained silent throughout the trial.
