This Sunday, tailor-made shoes, craftsmanship, technology and personalization with Maison Felger and its co-founder Maria Karunagaran.

In this House, each foot is scanned in 3D, resulting in unique shoes that are perfectly adapted.

They are customizable with different choices of models, colors, lining, laces and type of leather.

A shoe that corresponds, therefore, to the feet and not the other way around.

I am very creative by nature, rather intuitive.

It's a ping-pong game between my husband and I for this creativity part where he is rather cerebral, he brings his very rational, mathematical side and I the much more creative side.

Maison Felger in reference to the workshop we have just opened in Brittany near Fougères, and Felger means Fougères in Breton

", explains Maria Karunagaran, co-founder of Maison Felger.

The Felger house is a couple's story.

Cyril Karunagaran struggled to find comfortable shoes while preparing for his wedding to Maria.

In 2017, it was from this observation that the idea was born to use technology in taking measurements in order to offer pairs of shoes that perfectly match the anatomy of each foot.

Maison Felger manufactures its shoes in France using traditional techniques and by hand.

Nevertheless, the taking of measurements is digital, in stores in Paris.

French excellence and technology

The Maison Felger scanner is inspired by those of podiatrists and the system used in cinema special effects.

“

This allows us to have more than a hundred measurements transmitted to the foreman.

He will choose the best measures to make the shoe and pass them on to the craftsmen.

Usually, we don't have 100% symmetrical feet, which is quite normal, and sometimes it can be a source of discomfort.

Sometimes there is a difference of one, or even a size and a half, between the two feet.

We adapt the two shoes to two different feet

,

 ”

says Maria Karunagaran.

“

We look at the angle to the ground, that is to say, this inclination which is natural, but which can be accentuated in the event of knee surgery, sprains, pain in the hip, etc.

The body will distribute the weight according to these changes, which is detected by our scanner and we adapt, here too, according to these elements

”, adds the co-founder of Maison Felger.

Sustainable approach and awareness

Maison Felger is part of a service approach to help their customers move away from mass production.

“

We are working with them.

We send an email to let them know it's time to polish their pair of shoes, time to take care of them.

For this, we rely on technology and we try to encourage the customer to take care of his pair of shoes and to think that when he buys, it has to be sustainable,

 ”concludes Maria Karunagaran.
