The tourist office of the Chamonix valley (Haute-Savoie) announced various measures on Wednesday aimed at increasing the number of holidaymakers this winter.

The goal is to bounce back after a 2020 season severely marked by the absence of ski lifts.

Thus, group ski lessons will be offered to all tourists spending at least three nights in one of the region's commercial accommodation, reports

.

For all levels

This offer will only be available during two periods: January 7 to February 4 and March 7 to April 1.

"The periods which differentiate a good winter from a very good winter", explained Stéphane Boizard, the president of the tourist office.

These free courses will be given in all the schools in the valley and will concern all levels and all practices.

The offer is valid for courses lasting from two to six days.

This measure will also be accompanied by an advertising campaign in the Paris metro and in public transport in Lyon, Lausanne and Geneva.

The total cost of the operation has been estimated at 800,000 euros.

Free lessons can already be booked at ski schools.

In order to avoid fraud, the guest card will be requested during the first class.
