Located in Jinghong City, this tropical rain forest covers an area of about 26 acres. It is a 68-year-old Bo who has "learned all his life" and transformed it from a rubber forest in nearly 18 years.

Lao Bo is from Switzerland and once worked in the Swiss Embassy in China.

"When I first came, the soil of this rubber forest became very strong, and rainwater was not easy to penetrate." He said, "If this land is allowed to naturally restore biodiversity, it may take hundreds or even thousands of years. What I want to do is speed up this process."

For more than ten years, Lao Bo has used his persistence and dedication to make this tropical rain forest take shape. There are already more than 300 tropical trees in the forest.

At the same time, he used "second-hand" wood recovered from the homes of local residents to design and build a Yourantai Manor with only 5 rooms "hidden".

The operation and maintenance of this homestay in the rainforest involves many professional knowledge of ecology, architecture, economy, tourism, etc. He has fun while studying and exploring.

When it comes to biodiversity, Mr. Bo has a different understanding.

"Protecting biodiversity is like stock trading. If all assets are invested in one stock, the risk of bankruptcy is very high. Similarly, if we only plant a single tree species, it will be difficult for them to adapt to environmental changes. So we need to protect biodiversity. , This will keep nature stable."

From October 11 to 15, 2021, the first phase of the fifteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP15) will be held in Kunming.

Let us approach the creators and guardians of Yunnan’s “biodiversity treasure house” and record the story of Yunnan’s biodiversity.
