Still unknown .. an American wins about 700 million dollars in the lottery

In one of the largest lottery games in the world, after about forty drawings without a winner, a ticket sold in the US state of California matched all six numbers, and the Powerball jackpot went to its winning owner of about 700 million dollars, according to Euronews.

The winning numbers on Monday night were 12, 22, 54, 66 and 69, and the Powerball had the number 15.

The game's Powerball jackpot rose to $699.9 million after four months, without winning or exhausting ticket sales, making it the seventh largest jackpot in US lottery history, with no one winning the jackpot since June 5.

According to state officials, the lucky quest ticket was sold at a grocery store in Morro Bay, where the winner would choose between getting the money in installments paid over 29 years, or getting it in cash worth $496 million, both options subject to tax.

Lottery officials said the identity of the winner is not yet known, until he submits an official application.

Five million-dollar tickets were sold: two in Massachusetts, and $1 million each in Virginia, Florida and Arizona.

Powerball is played in 45 US states, in addition to Washington, DC, the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
