Among them, 16 district councillors took the oath of invalidity, including the Saigon district councillor Ko Yaolin, who was involved in the so-called "primary election" of the opposition.

　　According to reports, the commissioner for oaths confirmed that of the 50 district councillors who took the oath on the same day, 34 of the district councillors’ oaths were valid.

In view of the fact that the commissioner for oaths has doubts about the validity of the oaths made by the remaining 16 district councilors, the commissioner for oaths has sent a letter to the district councilors concerned requesting them to provide additional information.

After considering the written replies of the district councilors and all relevant information, the commissioner for oaths determined that the oaths of 16 district councilors were invalid in accordance with the principles laid down in the interpretation of Article 104 of the Basic Law and relevant legal provisions. .

　　According to the interpretation of Article 104 of the Basic Law by the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, the commissioner of oaths is responsible for ensuring that the oath is legally carried out, and the oath that complies with the interpretation and the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region shall be determined as a valid oath; The oath that does not comply with this interpretation and the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region shall be determined to be invalid, and the oath shall not be rescheduled.
