An important study for those taking cholesterol-lowering drugs

A recent medical study indicated that the use of cholesterol-lowering drugs has side effects on people with type 2 diabetes.

According to the study, taking cholesterol-lowering drugs exacerbates the symptoms of diabetes.

The study conducted by Texas Southwestern University on 83,000 diabetics showed that those who used cholesterol-lowering drugs had a 37% higher chance of developing diabetes compared to those who did not take this class of drugs.

According to the journal "JAMA Internal Medicine."

The data for the study indicated that 56% of statins users had signs of developing diabetes and had to start insulin and other blood sugar lowering therapies, compared to 48% of those who did not take these drugs.

The UPI news agency quoted the study's authors as saying that their findings do not mean that diabetics should stop taking cholesterol-lowering drugs, but that they may have to adjust their anti-diabetic treatment when starting treatment with cholesterol-lowering drugs.
