Knowledge of psittacosis prevention and control

Psittacosis is a zoonotic disease caused by Chlamydia psittaci. It was first discovered that the disease was more common in people who watched parrots, so it was named psittacosis.

It is mainly transmitted between poultry and occasionally to humans.

Most of the symptoms are mild after getting sick, and the common clinical symptoms are fever, fatigue, and muscle aches.

Not only is psittacosis not a severe infectious disease, but it has not yet been included in the national statutory infectious disease management.

After consulting the literature, in recent years, there have been case reports in Anhui, Chongqing, Beijing, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and other places in China, but no reports of human-to-human transmission have been reported.

The disease mostly occurs in people who have frequent contact with poultry and birds, and it is mainly infected through contact with poultry (birds) and their excreta.

The treatment of psittacosis can be treated with antibiotics such as tetracyclines, chloramphenicol, erythromycin, etc. The fever can be relieved and the symptoms can be relieved after taking the medicine for 1 to 2 days, and the treatment effect is good.
