In Mareuil-lès-Meaux (Seine-et-Marne), about fifteen employees of Equalis, an association to help the homeless and migrants, demonstrated on Monday.

They intended to protest against the income of their general manager, discovered in the press.

The manager's monthly salary would indeed amount to 18,000 euros gross.

He would be accompanied by a company car rented for more than 2,000 euros per month.

“I am scandalized.

I have a feeling of disgust, ”said an employee to Le

Employees were also shocked when they learned that, at night, Equalis subcontracted the Samu social hotline to a security and guard company.

“We have single mothers with children, families.

I do not think that a security guard, even with empathy and humanity, is equipped to manage these kinds of requests, ”lamented a staff representative.

For its part, the management ensured that everything was legal and approved by the state services.

According to her, "the budget does not allow a 24-hour activity".

The argument did not convince the employees whose three main executives would receive a cumulative salary exceeding 580,000 euros gross annually.

Equalis employs 900 people and receives 83 million euros in public subsidies each year to help 11,000 people.
