The circus arts could soon have their center of excellence in Greater Lyon.

Two grants of 100,000 euros support the project of an International City of Circus Arts (CIAC), the establishment of which is planned on the K block of the new district of Grand Parilly, in Vénissieux.

This project, announced last January, "will make it possible to strengthen the development of an extremely rich artistic discipline and to provide structuring cultural equipment to the south of our agglomeration", estimates Cédric Van Styvendael, vice-president of the Metropolis in charge. of culture, in a press release.

These studies, jointly managed by the Métropole de Lyon, the MPTA company and the Lyon Circus School, will relate in particular to the real estate and legal arrangement of the project, as well as to the contracting authority and its operating governance.

Their results are expected in the first quarter of 2022.

In addition to the two metropolitan subsidies, one for operation and the other for investment, this second phase of studies, the total amount of which is estimated at 114,000 euros, will also be financed by the Ministry of Culture, the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
