• Before launching their joint project Delacourt in 2019, the Lyonnaises Amélie and Noémie were respectively Billie and Morikan in their artistic life.

  • These two sisters who grew up in a "house of happiness" in the Drôme are betting on "sunny pop songs" with their first EP

“Like the birds, we head for the warmth, summer galore to Bilbao. Noémie and Amélie may never have traveled to the capital of the Basque Country, they were inspired to sign their first EP, released on August 26 and directed by Raphaël Léger (Cléa Vincent, Tahiti 80). These two sisters, who have lived in Lyon for fifteen years, have long developed solo projects (Billie for Amélie, Morikan for Noémie) before bringing their voices together for good in 2019.

Their artistic destiny was shaped in childhood, in a "house of happiness" near Crest (Drôme), where Amélie remembers falling under the spell of Kraftwerk's electro, picking up her father's records. , when Noémie turned more to Stevie Wonder's repertoire.

After having often animated the festivals in their family by singing together, Amélie (40 years old) and Noémie (34 years old) have each in turn joined the National Music School (ENM) of Villeurbanne.

"We wanted to move towards something sweet and benevolent"

Unsurprisingly, Amélie aka Billie then delivers electro EPs, where Noémie / Morikan tends towards world music. However, the musical complicity of the two sisters born in Paris remains evident. “When we invited ourselves on stage to sing, we realized that our voices were married extremely well,” says Amélie. I think it always touched the audience to see two sisters singing together. It gives a somewhat magical fusion. "

“It's a bit as if we rediscovered this children's pleasure,” adds Noémie.

At one point, we said to ourselves: "What if we did this more often?".

The Delacourt project, a nod to the family name of their “painter and globe trotter grandmother”, was born in 2019. It remains to determine the musical register, in view of their rather distant universes.

"We have listed a panel of musical registers and artists that we both love and we especially selected the French duo Polo & Pan," Amélie says.

We are smiling and sunny so we wanted to move towards something sweet and benevolent.

It eliminated the new wave.

The Lyon “godmothers” Carmen Maria Vega and Buridane

Too bad for Amélie's passion for New Order and others, Delacourt will finally find himself around “sunny pop songs”, including

Bilbao

is the dazzling symbol.

With this heady title, whose very colorful clip has more than 80,000 views on YouTube, the duo has found its aesthetic and its message.

"The birds that we evoke in the song are in fact our Parisian and Lyonnais friends that we take every summer to our chalet lost in the Drôme forest so that everyone can recharge their batteries", smiles Amélie, who is found on the keyboards. on the EP.

With her guitarist sister, they are used to working together through street theater and the company of the Sœurs Goudron.

Seeing these two intermittents of the show also getting closer in song was therefore anything but a surprise to those around them.

"All our friends were even expecting that," smiles Amélie.

They were convinced that one day we would go on a musical project together.

»Here they are reunited for good within a Lyon music scene that is decidedly rich in female artists, between Karimouche, Carmen Maria Vega, Buridane or Erotic Market.

“We all help each other a lot in Lyon, we have lots of good godmothers here,” says Amélie.

Covid-19 requires, Delacourt has hardly ever been able to do the slightest concert since the creation of the project, until this co-stage with Logart on Thursday, September 30 (8:30 p.m.) in Francheville (Rhône).
