She arrived "by chance" and boredom on TikTok and now has more than 363,000 followers on this network.

At 52, Karina Vigier, editor of fashion magazines, now intends to promote the Côte d'Azur.

She confided in

20 Minutes

 on this sudden success and on how she intended to transform it.

How did you get on this network, which is considered the favorite among teenagers?

It was by chance. We were in Copenhagen with my 20 year old daughter who laughed every night while scrolling through the videos on TikTok. One day, when we were very bored, I got involved and we thought we were going to do one using my taste for fashion and vintage. It took four hours! Now I need twenty minutes. But the TikTok had 330,000 views. Noholita, a very followed Instagramer with a million followers, reposted it saying she would like to be like me later. In one night, I went from 30 to 6,000 followers. Then it went very quickly. Aya Nakamura's record company contacted me to make transitions on one of her songs, and then there were others. The biggest collaboration was with Zalando where I had 32 million views on a post.

You are now considered an influencer, how do you live it?

I prefer to say that I am Tiktokeuse, even if it is a term of young people.

After that, I never signed up for that (laughs).

I will not quit my job for social networks but I realize that it really is.

For the rest, I haven't changed because I now have more visibility.

I have always been in exuberance with oversized glasses or colorful atypical clothes.

I use this influence, even if I prefer the word in English “inspiring”, to exchange with my community, to answer their questions while transforming this success.

Who is your community made up of?

I often say that she is XXL.

, others in their twenties who wonder about fashion jobs to new mothers whose priority is no longer theirs. look.

I also have women my age who ask me for advice because they see their bodies changing.

I had messages where I was thanked for the messages I was passing on.

When that happens, I tell myself that if I have ten like that, I did my job!

How do you manage this success?

I don't have a career profile, no goal in this area.

I live from day to day even if it is true that I earn more by being a tiktoker than an editor.

The observation is above all that there is a community that praises you but also harasses you.

If we think that influencers are ephemeral, “haters” [haters, in French], are very long-lasting.

And they always attack on the same point: my age.

The worst part is that sometimes it's other women.

At first it made me sad and wondered where that buzzword of "sorority" got, but now I don't read those comments anymore.

I don't want to be touched by this stuff anymore.

Afterwards, I understand that it is destabilizing.

With social networks, we always have the impression that the person we follow is our friend.

What if everything stops?

I am not afraid.

I think my strength is also knowing how to change things that are happening around me.

I know that I am able to bounce back, just by the network that I have created for myself.

We are preparing a lot of projects, especially with local players.

In the meantime, I'm having fun.

Are there other projects then?

With my assistant Axel, we created our “Point G” agency which will, in particular, be used to develop partnerships with local players on the Côte d'Azur.

We want to bring in influencers from elsewhere to promote the territory on a larger scale.

I am also preparing a masterclass on fashion professions.

We also told ourselves that we were going to help very well-known people on TikTok, from the LGBTQ + community, to allow them to transform their experience on this network and make sure they make a living from it.

I want to connect and allow to nourish this relationship.

Anyway, as long as I wake up with the banana, everything is rolling, so we continue!
