According to Planet Radio, Lancaster's wife confirmed his death.
The musician died at his home in Sydney, surrounded by his family.
In December 2016, Status Quo guitarist Rick Parfitt died at the age of 69.
The Status Quo group was founded in 1962.
Lancaster left the band in 1985 after moving to Australia, and in 2013-2014 he took part in the concert tour of the original Status Quo line-up.
