Canadian model seeks $50 million in damages for plastic surgery

Former model Linda Evangelista sued for $50 million;

Because of plastic surgery she said she "brutally disfigured".

The lawsuit alleges that the model underwent several surgeries between 2015 and 2016 to reduce fat in different areas of her body.

Corrective surgeries did not solve the problem of paradoxical fat hyperplasia.

It is seeking $50 million in compensation;

Because of her lost income and psychological damage, she says she has stopped modeling since 2016.

Evangelista - who was one of the most important models in the 1990s and whose pictures topped the covers of magazines - said in an Instagram post that she underwent liposuction

nearly five years ago.

In the post, the Canadian model wrote, "To my followers who wonder why I don't work while my peers in the profession are in a state of brilliance, I say it's because I was brutally disfigured by a back-to-back fat removal surgery."

She added that she suffered from a rare side effect called (paradoxical lip hyperplasia) after the surgical intervention, which causes swelling in the areas that were treated.

She continued, "The paradoxical lipid hyperplasia not only destroyed my livelihood, but also pushed me into a cycle of deep depression, deep sadness and extremes of self-loathing. And in the process I became isolated."
