“It is with great sadness that the family of Roger Michell — director, writer and father — announces his death on September 22 at the age of 65,” the statement said.

Michell's family did not disclose the location and cause of the director's death.

Michell's most famous film was the 1999 romantic comedy Notting Hill, starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant.

The film was nominated for three Golden Globe nominations.
