  The bear monkeys mainly inhabit the Xiaoheishan Nature Reserve and its surrounding areas in Longling.

Ursus monkeys belong to the genus Macaca genus of the Primate Macaque family. It is a national second-level key protected wild animal and was included in the "World Conservation Union" (IUCN) 2008 Red List of Endangered Species-Near Threatened (NT) species.
