• "The Third War" is the one that leads the authorities against terrorism.

  • Anthony Bajon plays a young recruit sent to patrol the streets of Paris.

  • The boredom he feels, while waiting to take action, is not communicated in this thrilling film.

The boredom of the soldiers of the Sentinel patrols is the paradox that

Giovanni Aloi's

The Third War

, presented in Reims Polar, shares.

To protect the population from possible terrorist attacks, these soldiers spend their time monitoring the streets of large cities, but bark themselves, because, fortunately, these attacks occur only very rarely.

His first mission made of lookouts and waiting, the young recruit played by Anthony Bajon takes it badly.

And even if he is supported by more seasoned comrades, played by Leila Bekhti and Karim Leklou, this boy who feels bad about himself is gradually losing his marks.

A hero on hot coals

"The hero of the film is in search of meaning," explains the director in the press kit. He needs order, and this order he will look for in the army. He discovers a hostile universe in the streets of Paris. The shock felt by this provincial from a modest background is made all the more noticeable as Anthony Bajon, recently seen as a werewolf in

Teddy

by the Boukherma brothers, delivers a remarkable performance. We can feel him more and more on hot coals, which keeps the suspense of knowing when and how he will act.

His metamorphosis in a world whose rules escape him is surrounded with great talent by a director who fully plays the card of realism to describe the lives of these soldiers.

The Third War

, in reference to that waged by the French authorities against terrorism, shows the repetitive aspect of missions which rarely lead to action.

This film about boredom succeeds in never being boring.

It will allow the spectator to take a different look at the soldiers who roam our cities, with a vigilant eye and weapons in hand.
