In total, there are currently 556 musicians, actors, sound technicians and other cultural workers on strike.

- We have just been in a pandemic with a lot of canceled performances for a year and a half.

And when we can finally play again, the strike will come, says Jan Beckmann.

For almost three weeks, hundreds of Norwegian cultural consumers have been met by empty scenes and canceled performances.

- We are a little afraid that the audience will eventually give up on us and the other theaters, says Jan Beckmann.

"Strikes for equal pension for women and men"

Those who go on strike believe that the current pension system is unfair and disadvantages women.

They want to introduce a so-called hybrid pension, which already exists in several other sectors in Norway.

The employees come from the country's largest cultural scenes, such as the Opera House and the National Theater in Oslo.

- We are on strike for equal pension for women and men.

One would not think that it is necessary in 2021, said Åshild Mjelde Nordås, props at the Norwegian Theater in Oslo earlier in the autumn to SVT.

The 121 cultural workers who joined the strike on Wednesday come from the theater stages Oslo New Theater, Hålogant Theater and Teater innlandet.
