After the violent death of a young woman in Hamm, the 27-year-old who was further accused denies the allegations, according to his lawyer.

His client had nothing to do with the death of the 25-year-old victim, said lawyer Dennis Kocker on Tuesday at the request of the German press agency.

"Bild.de" had previously reported.

His client was arrested on Sunday in his apartment.

He was released on Monday evening.

An urgent suspicion against him could not be justified according to the Dortmund public prosecutor.

The 27-year-old was still accused in the criminal proceedings after the homicide, explained a spokesman for the authorities. “The investigation continues, including against the 27-year-old.” The 25-year-old's partially undressed corpse was found by a passer-by in a green area on Sunday. According to the "picture" report, the victim is said to have been abused. The corpse had several stab wounds, one stab went straight to the heart. The prosecutor did not confirm this. An autopsy had revealed a "violent death". Investigators did not comment on how the woman died or whether she was sexually abused before she died.

Lawyer Kocker described that there was a negative DNA comparison, so there were no traces of his client on the victim. He expressly did not confirm reports that his client had sex with the later victim on Sunday night. The 27-year-old was in a club that night and had consensual sexual intercourse with two women he did not know. However, his client "suspects" that it was not the person who was later killed. Prosecutor Felix Giesenregen said the 27-year-old had stated that one of the two women gave him her first name, which matched that of the victim. The women should report as witnesses.

Kocker did not provide any information that the 27-year-old had been convicted of a sexual offense a long time ago. Giesenregen said whether the accused had a criminal record in this direction is currently being checked. No information is currently available on this. There were "prioritized traces were evaluated, also on the victim". No traces can be assigned to the 27-year-old. The spokesman for the authorities did not comment on any further details.

On Monday, divers searched a small lake at the crime scene for hours - unsuccessfully. According to the public prosecutor's office, the investigators had hoped to come across additional evidence - not described in detail - with the action. According to "Bild", the divers were looking for a possible murder weapon. Stuffed animals, candles and sunflowers were parked for the young victim by the small lake at the Higher Regional Court.
