Khalid bin Mohamed bin Zayed inaugurates Al Ain Book Fair

His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and head of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office, inaugurated the 12th edition of the Al Ain Book Fair, organized by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center of the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi, at Zayed Central Library, and will continue until September 30th. .

His Highness toured a number of pavilions and publishing houses participating in the exhibition, which is being held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's Representative in the Al Ain region.

The current session of the exhibition coincides with the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the UAE, and is organized under the slogan “Generations that read and lead the future.” The exhibition constitutes a platform for cultural exchange, and aims to focus on the importance of reading. The Al Ain Book Fair is also a platform that celebrates the work of Emirati writers and intellectuals, and introduces readers to their literary and cultural experiences.

The head of the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi, Mohammed Khalifa Al Mubarak, said: “The success of the Al Ain Book Fair over its previous sessions reflects the cultural growth witnessed by Al Ain, and the efforts of the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi to shed more light on the historical, cultural and heritage components that this region possesses, because It has an important role in preserving the country's heritage and culture. We are proud to reopen the Al Ain Book Fair in front of its audience as it represents an important annual platform, especially as it coincides with our celebrations of the fiftieth year, to emphasize its importance in the Emirati cultural scene, and the rich intellectual and cultural content it provides.”

For his part, the President of the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language, Dr. Ali bin Tamim, said: “Al Ain Book Fair represents an important event in the cultural agenda of the UAE.

With its unique programme, the fair enables Emirati writers to interact with readers, which is reflected in the cultural scene in Al Ain.

The Al Ain Book Fair also offers family-friendly activities to encourage reading and enhance interaction between children and their families.”

This year's edition is distinguished by its rich cultural program that celebrates the Emirati cultural heritage over the past fifty years since the establishment of the union, with the participation of more than 100 local and national publishing houses.

The exhibition also hosts more than 50 speakers from the elite Emirati thinkers, writers and poets in 24 dialogue sessions, and presents nine musical performances by artists from Bait Al Oud playing a selection of eastern and western classical music.
