Heritage Days: Atelier 11 in Montparnasse opens its doors for the first time

Heritage is going to meet the public this weekend for its 38 edition across Europe.
In France, 16,000 monuments and exceptional places are opening their doors.
A unique opportunity to discover in particular Atelier 11, dating from 1870, in the Montparnasse district, in Paris and never open to the public before.

Atelier 11 is the only survivor of the thirty or so artist studios that exist at the Cité Falguière in Montparnasse.
This historic place marked the birth of modernism.
It was the center of creation for artists like Modigliani, Brancusi or even Gauguin before they were famous.
These workshops were really very rudimentary, without water, without electricity, without gas [...] Going upstairs, we see this flower-filled courtyard dear to Modigliani.

The Yves Saint Laurent Foundation exceptionally opens to the public the studio of the great French couturier, in Paris.
There he imagined his unique creations known worldwide as the famous Mondrian dress.
On the theme "Heritage for all", the Élysée Palace will welcome the public: strolling through the lounges and discovering the unique know-how of the trades present in the Palace, as well as the ephemeral work of Daniel Buren entitled "Pavoisé », Installed on the glass roof of the winter garden.
Trades village
On the occasion of these heritage days, a “village of trades” was installed in front of the Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral, being renovated after having been devastated more than two years ago by a fire.
Its reopening is scheduled for 2024. While waiting, the “village of trades” presents visitors with the various specialties involved in this titanic site: archaeologists, restorers of sculptures, paintings or stained glass, carpenters, scaffolders or even rope access technicians.
