4 arrested for setting a man on fire to film a video clip in Saudi Arabia

On Friday, Saudi newspapers and websites reported that the Saudi police arrested 4 people who had published a video clip showing that they were forcibly detaining a person and pouring a dangerous substance on him.

A statement issued by the official spokesman for the Northern Border Police Region, Miteb Al-Khamis, stated that the security forces arrested four citizens in the second and third decades of life.

The four people had appeared in videos circulating on social media, in a scene of arresting one of them, pouring a highly flammable substance on him and starting to burn him.

The spokesman explained that what the four did "involve violating the criminal public order according to the anti-cybercrime system, with the aim of promoting their accounts on social media."

On Thursday, he noted, the suspects had been arrested, and "the initial legal measures were taken against them, and they were referred to the Public Prosecution Branch."
