At 4:33 on September 16, a magnitude 6.0 earthquake occurred in Lu County, Luzhou City, Sichuan Province, with a focal depth of 10 kilometers.
The epicenter of the earthquake is about 6 kilometers away from Luxian County, about 37 kilometers away from Luzhou City, and about 197 kilometers away from Chengdu City. Many earthquakes such as Chengdu and Chongqing have obvious quakes.

As of 14:00 on September 16, 2021, more than 30 aftershocks have been recorded in the earthquake area, including one with a magnitude of 2.8. According to comprehensive analysis of regional tectonic characteristics, historical seismic activity levels, and seismic sequence characteristics, experts believe that more recent aftershocks have occurred in this area. The possibility of an earthquake is unlikely, but aftershocks will continue for a period of time, and attention should be paid to the prevention of subsequent aftershocks.

The Municipal Emergency Committee mobilized more than 3860 rescue and rescue forces including fire and rescue teams, comprehensive emergency rescue teams, medical rescue, electric power, communications, transportation, 113 geological team, 135 geological team, armed police, militia, Red Cross mountain rescue, and dispatched 197 vehicles , 4 patrol boats, 89 rescue equipment such as excavators in the disaster area to carry out rescue.
