The SAR government welcomes Hong Kong's re-evaluation of the world's freest economy

Xinhua News Agency, Hong Kong, September 14 (Reporter Wei Hua) The Fraser Institute of Canada once again ranked Hong Kong as the freest economy in the world in the "World Economic Freedom 2021 Annual Report".

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government welcomed this on the 14th and stated that "this clearly affirms Hong Kong's persistent efforts to establish a free economy and provide a fair business environment."

Since the Fraser Institute began to publish the report, Hong Kong has consistently ranked first in the world.

Among the five major assessment items in the 2021 report, Hong Kong continues to rank first in "freedom of international trade" and "regulation".

A spokesperson for the SAR government pointed out that the Hong Kong SAR is an inseparable part of the People's Republic of China. It is a local administrative region that enjoys a high degree of autonomy under the "one country, two systems" and is directly under the Central People's Government.

Since the reunification, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region has been implementing the principle of "one country, two systems" in strict accordance with the provisions of the Hong Kong Basic Law, implementing the principle of "Hong Kong people ruling Hong Kong" and a high degree of autonomy.

The Central People's Government has repeatedly stated that it will unswervingly implement the "one country, two systems" policy.

The implementation of the "One Country, Two Systems" policy is in the interests of the people of Hong Kong, is conducive to maintaining Hong Kong's prosperity and stability, and is in the fundamental interests of the country.

The spokesman said that the Hong Kong SAR government will continue to consolidate Hong Kong’s inherent institutional advantages, including the rule of law and judicial independence, a free trade and investment system, a simple and low tax system, a good business environment, and an efficient and clean government.

These advantages will continue to provide a favorable environment for companies to expand their business and enhance their competitiveness, so that the overall economy will continue to prosper.
