The Taliban's lightning victory came as a surprise last August.

Admittedly, they did not need to carry out much military combat, because the Afghan army formed and trained by the Westerners quickly gave up the weapons.

But in the work he has just published by Editions du CNRS,

, Adam Baczko describes the justice system that Kabul's new strongmen had put in place in areas they controlled.

A justice which, in the face of the chaos caused by four decades of war, was often appreciated.

RFI asked Adam Baczko if these courts set up by the Taliban were also a key to explaining this rapid conquest of power.
