Not so easy to reopen schools.

One week after the start of the school year, no less than 117 first-degree classes are in fact closed in the Pays-de-la-Loire region due to Covid-19 contamination.

It is, not surprisingly given the volume of population, the Loire-Atlantique which is the most affected: 44 classes currently closed, according to the latest figures unveiled by the regional health agency (ARS).

The first week was even more disrupted in the town of Sorinières, south of Nantes, since no less than ten classes, spread over three schools, were forced to send the children home.

More than 250 pupils are concerned.

In question: a cluster within the municipal recreation center, reports the ARS.

"A very effective means"

“This proves that we must remain extremely vigilant.

When you close a class, it's restrictive for everyone.

But it is a very effective way to contain contamination, ”comments the regional health agency.

According to the protocol in force, a single positive case for the coronavirus is enough to shut down an entire kindergarten or elementary class for seven days.

The positive student must respect a ten-day isolation.

Overall, the epidemic situation is far from alarming in Loire-Atlantique since the departmental incidence rate has declined slightly to stand at 90 positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

The national incidence rate is 141 per 100,000 inhabitants.
