In 17 years as a police officer, he participated in more than 2,000 on-site inspections of major and difficult cases, public security disasters, etc., and used fingerprint comparison to solve 15 homicide cases, 3 homicide cases, and more than 1,000 other cases... Jincheng City Public Security Bureau, Shanxi Province Criminal technology policeman Liu Wei said: “Every crime-solving code drawn with black and white lines is hidden in a small space and can only be found with care.”

Liu Wei was born in 1983 and is the captain of the Mobile Investigation Brigade of the Criminal Technology Detachment of the Jincheng Public Security Bureau.

In March 2004, he became a civilian policeman of the Criminal Technology Division of Jincheng Public Security Bureau, engaged in trace inspection, document inspection and appraisal.

"The natural uniqueness of fingerprints makes it one of the important evidences to identify or exclude suspects in criminal cases. In some cases, the identification of fingerprints will become the most important or even the only evidence in the case, with a final word. , The special effect of a sword to seal the throat." Liu Wei said.

Fingerprint matching is a battle between squares.

Liu Wei told reporters: “Fingerprints extracted on site are mostly fuzzy, incomplete, deformed, and overlapping. To identify a fingerprint, hundreds of similar fingerprints must be marked, compared, and identified one by one before a conclusion can be drawn.”

In June of this year, after 6 days and 6 nights of fingerprint comparison, Liu Wei fastened the suspect in the homicide case 17 years ago to the chain of evidence.

Beginning on June 12, Liu Wei plunged into the fingerprint database to compare the fingerprints of the criminal suspects in the robbed and murder of taxi drivers in Lingchuan County, Jincheng City 17 years ago.

During the 6 days, day and night, he sat in front of the computer for a long time, staring at the screen with his eyes. In order to reduce activities, he drank as little water as possible. He often sat for a few hours. "Fingerprint matching requires a high degree of consistency. Sex, if I can’t concentrate for a long time, it will seriously affect my work.”

On the morning of June 16th, the comparison finally produced results. This direct evidence became a key link in the chain of evidence for solving the case. The suspect Zhang Mouliang was fastened to the chain of evidence.

After the efforts of the police from the public security organs at the city and county levels, this accumulated homicide case 17 years ago was finally cracked.

On December 25, 1998, a victim in a vegetable greenhouse in Haojiang Village, Zhongjiazhuang Office, Jincheng City, was beaten to death on the head with a blunt object.

Limited by the conditions of handling the case and the level of technology at the time, only a few fingerprints were extracted at the scene, and the case could no longer be advanced.

In September 2020, with the support of the Science and Technology Division of the Public Security Department of Shanxi Province, Liu Wei re-compared the fingerprints left at the scene and finally determined that the fingerprints were left by the suspect Wang Moushan.

On September 22, 2020, with the assistance of the Shanxi Changzhi police, the suspect Wang Moushan was arrested and brought to justice.

In addition to the above-mentioned cases of hitting the enemy and acupuncture points, in the detection of many other serious and difficult cases, the on-site inspections that Liu Wei participated in also played an important role, such as the "2008.8.6 Bichunyuan Intentional Homicide Case in Urban District" and "2015.3. 5 The Murder Case of Cheng Mou in Dongye Town, Yangcheng County", and the Intentional Murder Case of Wu Mou in Lingchuan County, 2016.5.19.

In the process of a total of more than 100 major, difficult and complicated cases, Liu Wei solved the major technical problems encountered in the investigation of the case, and played a direct and key role in solving the case.

"The trace inspection work must not be false. Every time I make a conclusion after the inspection, I will conduct a comprehensive and detailed analysis again to check whether the result is objective and whether it reflects the actual situation, so as to prevent simple and hasty conclusions." Liu Wei said.

Regarding Liu Wei's performance, Zhang Tianlin, head of the Criminal Technology Division of the Jincheng City Public Security Bureau, commented: "Daily work is serious and serious, and the identification conclusions issued can withstand the test. Since joining the work, the cases involved in the inspection are accurate." (End)
