32 years later, the former "Zhou Ping" became "Zhou Puyuan".
In the new drama "Thunderstorm" by Beijing People's Art, Pu Cunxin is not only the starring role, but also the director.
He revealed that this version of "Thunderstorm" has not changed a single sentence in the lines, but there are new interpretations in many aspects.

More than 80 years after its birth, the story of "Thunderstorm" has been widely circulated.
Its charm spans time and space.
Some people are obsessed with its dramatic structure, while others love its description of human nature.
Its theme has also been interpreted differently in different eras, from the initial "social problem drama" to the later anti-feudal and anti-patriarchy.
And what is the difference between Beijing Renyi’s new release of "Thunderstorm"?
"This time we traced back from the text to the original script that was not deleted in 1934. We found out Mr. Cao Yu's freshest and original expressions that year, and unearthed the original intentions. Find actions in literature, find stories, and let the audience see them. In the familiar stories, there are many very interesting but may be different from the previous cognition." Director Pu Cunxin introduced.
At the same time, he described Zhou Puyuan as "both an insider and an outsider."

Director Tang Ye said that they will use Mr. Cao Yu's 1956 script as a blueprint to dig out some relationships or details of characters that may have been overlooked before from the 1934 script.
"We first wanted to explore what Mr. Cao Yu's original intention was when he wrote this script. We compared the later scripts. The original scripts may be more restorative to human nature. I think this is something we are going to explore. The second is The angles are different, and each family has its own disputes. For example, whether Zhou Puyuan knows about the family turmoil. We may return to the story that the number one in the script should be Zhou Puyuan."
This time, the new row of "Thunderstorm" has also made a new attempt on the cast.
In addition to Pu Cunxin's "upgrading" from the young master Zhou Ping to the master Zhou Puyuan, Gong Lijun also transformed from the classic Fanyi in the audience's mind to Lu Ma, Bai Hui changed from Sifeng to Fanyi, and Li Hongtao as Lu Gui.

This seems to be different from the previous image of Lu Gui.
"We used to think that Lu Gui should be the ugliness in'Sheng Dan Jing Mo Chou'. He ate, drank, and gambled, but we thought why Lu's mother left a 17-year-old daughter alone for him for two years? Unbearable, as a mother will not do this. I think, at least he is a competent father to the child. We are not to beautify him, but to interpret what a real Lugui should look like. Our lines are all from the script , Some people may have intercepted this clip, we just intercepted another aspect." Tang Ye revealed.

Young actors from Wang Junqi, Chen Hongxu, Xu Du, Li Jingxu, Xie Tian, Yang Qifang, Guo Wei, Shi Yunpeng, Liang Guodong, Li Jintao and others also participated in the "Thunderstorm" performance.
Pu Cunxin said: "They may not be the types we define in the traditional sense. For example, Sifeng will be more pristine and Zhou Ping will be a little cowardly. These features are designed and required deliberately, allowing the audience to understand more intuitively and clearly. To who they are, where they are from, and what kind of life they have had."

On the stage, the new row of "Thunderstorm" will also use the technique of combining reality and reality to intersperse real characters with those in memories, completing the narrative in time and space.
"The flashing of Shi Ping and Zhou Puyuan on the stage thirty years ago took the audience to find the fragments of memory." Pu Cunxin said.
Tang Ye also said that in the creative process, they accelerated the overall rhythm and controlled it within two and a half hours, hoping that the new interpretation would attract audiences, especially young audiences.
The reporter was informed that the new row of "Thunderstorm" will be performed on Cao Yu's birthday (September 24) in the newly opened Cao Yu Theater of Beijing International Theater Center.
