On September 9, the Sichuan Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology held a press conference in Guanghan, Sichuan to inform the latest results of archaeological excavations at the Sanxingdui site.

Up to now, more than 5,000 cultural relics have been extracted from the Sanxingdui New Sacrifice Area. Archaeologists have discovered huge bronze altars in the sacrificial pits 3 and 4 that have been basically cleaned up and the sacrificial pits 7 and 8 where the cultural relics have been exposed. Divine beasts, complete golden masks, jade cong carved with sacred tree patterns, and jade knives that resemble Western knives and other cultural relics.
