The ceremony is attended by French President Emmanuel Macron, members of the Belmondo family, as well as famous figures from the world of cinema and sports, as well as members of the government.

Macron is expected to deliver a speech followed by a minute of silence.

The ceremony will end with the French anthem Marseillaise.

Belmondo died at the age of 89 on September 6.
