An eel that looks like a "panda" with a mottled pattern of black and white is on display at the aquarium in Susami Town, Wakayama Prefecture.

This panda-like eel is a Japanese eel exhibited at the "Shrimp and Crab Aquarium" in Susami Town, and it seems that the body color changed for some reason and it became a mottled pattern of black and white. ..

Two eels were found at an eel farm in Kozagawa-cho and were picked up by the aquarium in late June.

Both of them are about 60 cm in length, and when the aquarium exhibited them as "panda eels", they are gaining popularity among visitors.

According to the aquarium, individuals with abnormal body color are rarely found in nature, but they are less likely to survive because they are easily attacked by foreign enemies, and it seems that they were able to grow significantly because they were raised in a farm. ..

Atsushi Hirai, director of the shrimp and crab aquarium, said, "It is a very rare individual at the level of one in tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands. Please take a look."
