After an attack on a money transporter on Berlin's Ku'damm with a booty of around 650,000 euros, one of the perpetrators was sentenced to seven years in prison.

The regional court in the capital found the 31-year-old from a well-known Arab clan guilty of serious robbery and dangerous assault on Wednesday.

In addition, the accused was placed in a rehab facility because of drug addiction.

The 31-year-old is said to have committed the act on February 19, 2021 with four previously unidentified accomplices.

Masked and disguised as garbage collectors, according to the investigation, they attacked the money transporter of a security company in front of a bank and threatened the guards with alarm pistols.

The convicted defendant had confessed.

According to the 31-year-old, he only participated in the crime two weeks after his release from prison because he had amassed high debts through his drug addiction.

I'm sorry for what happened.

According to his own statement, he received 70,000 euros from the booty.

He did not name accomplices.

The court, public prosecutor and defense had reached an agreement at the beginning of the trial a week ago. In the case of a confession, the defendant was promised a sentence of between six and a half and seven and a half years in prison.
