This Monday, the prefecture of Nouvelle-Aquitaine advised against swimming for those who would be lucky enough to take advantage of the summer weather on the coastal beaches.

Strong currents that take swimmers out to sea are reported, especially this Tuesday.

🌊 The beaches of #NouvelleAquitaine are marked by sea currents which can be dangerous.

⚠️ Today these currents are particularly strong and can drag you out to sea.

The prefecture recalls that each year swimmers are trapped by these apparently calm areas of baïnes.

Some are swept away and drown.

When you are caught in a baïne, you should not fight against the current and signal yourself by arm movements.
