French President Macron, Prime Minister Castay and others expressed their condolences for his death.
Jean-Paul Belmondo is considered to be one of the most famous film stars in the French film industry after World War II. He has appeared in about 80 films and his acting career is regarded as "a microcosm of French cinema".
He was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2016 Venice Film Festival.
Jean-Paul Belmondo starred in many feature films and action films from the 1960s to the 1980s. Some of these films are well-loved by audiences and are also familiar to Chinese audiences, including "Fire of Paris", "Heir", and "Wang Zhong" King" and so on.
