The South Africans won a deserved 1-0 victory over a disappointing Ghana on September 6, 2021 in Johannesburg, in qualifying for the
2022 FIFA World Cup
.
But the South Africans have long been unlucky and clumsy during this meeting counting for Group G.
Unlucky, first in the 37th minute, when the linesman invalidated for an offside a goal from Percy Tau, scored with a header, perfectly valid.
Then awkward, in the 47th minute, when Evidence Makgopa does not honor his first name.
On a powerful cross from the right, the ball indeed passes between the legs of goalkeeper Richard Ofori.
But Makgopa is surprised and does not take advantage of the gift.
He misses the opening scoring one meter from the frame.
Unbelievable…
In the 67th minute, it was an acrobatic kick from Mothobi Mvala who narrowly passed the cage.
Ghana are doing very well until the 83rd minute.
Following a game of billiards in the box, Bongokuhle Hlongwane takes the ball from close range: 1-0, final score.
A precious result for South Africans who have already gleaned 1 point in Zimbabwe on September 3, and before a double confrontation against Ethiopia in October.
