Masaaki Oka, a former lawyer, and Toru Sakai, who served as the chief prosecutor of the Tokyo Higher Prosecutor's Office, have been appointed as new judges of the Supreme Court.

Judge Okashin is 65 years old.

He has been active as a lawyer familiar with bankruptcy law for about 40 years, and has served as chairman of the Dai-Ichi Tokyo Bar Association and outside director of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation.

At a press conference, Judge Oka said, "As a lawyer, I have been practicing to reach reasonable conclusions in the process of revitalizing various companies and dealing with bankruptcy, while the interests of the parties are mixed. I want to face each and every trial. "

In addition, the new judge Sakai, who also took office, is 63 years old.

He has a long experience in the field of investigation, and has served as the director of the special investigation department of the Tokyo District Public Prosecutor's Office and the prosecutor's office.

Judge Sakai said, "I have been involved in the investigation and trial of cases as a prosecutor, but I think that the fact-finding based on evidence and the insight into the background of the case are common to the duties of judges, so I have experience. I want to keep it alive, listen carefully to the voices of the parties concerned, and act humbly. "
