The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government held a ceremony at the Memorial Garden of the Hong Kong City Hall on the 3rd to commemorate the 76th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.

  The Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Leung Chun-ying, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Carrie Lam, the principal officials of the central government agencies in Hong Kong, the principal officials of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, representatives of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Judiciary, members of the Executive Council and Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, members of the former Dongjiang Column, representatives of veterans and Representatives of the National People's Congress of the port area and members of the CPPCC National Committee of the port area attended the commemorative ceremony.

  At 8 o'clock in the morning, the ceremony officially began. With the performance of the "Volunteer March", the national flag and regional flag were gradually raised, and the people present sang the national anthem.

  The Hong Kong police rifle honor guard fired 21 shots to pay tribute to the heroes of the War of Resistance against Japan. Those present observed a two-minute silence to express their memory of the martyrs.

Afterwards, Carrie Lam led representatives from all walks of life participating in the ceremony to bow and pay tribute to the heroes.

  In 1937, Japan completely invaded China, and the Chinese people, including Hong Kong citizens, waged a long and arduous struggle.

On September 2, 1945, Japan surrendered and China won the War of Resistance Against Japan.

  The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress decided in February 2014 to designate September 3 as the anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government announced in August 2014 that an official ceremony will be held on September 3 every year since that year to commemorate the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.
