[Explanation] September 3, which coincides with the 76th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, students, teachers, families of Holocaust survivors, volunteers, etc. in the Memorial Hall of the Victims of the Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders Twelve representatives from all walks of life solemnly rang the bell of peace, and a ring of bells echoed in the air, paying tribute to the unyielding struggle 76 years ago and alerting that peace today is not easy to come by.

  [Commentary] Ge Fengliang, the son of Ge Daorong, a survivor of the Nanjing Massacre, is one of today’s bell strikers. He told a reporter from China News Agency that his 95-year-old father has participated in more than 100 commemorative events for decades. Later generations said that as long as they can walk, they must try to talk about this period of history.

  During the history of the Nanjing Massacre, he (father) wrote a (book) of nearly 100,000 words, as a family heirloom, (family) has one book.

Because he said that I have nothing left for everyone, but I leave this heirloom to everyone, because in addition to our (second) generation, there are (third) and (fourth) generations underneath.

Starting from me, we must remember today's victory day. This victory day can be hard to come by. How many martyrs gave their lives for what?

In order to fight against aggression and war, we must cherish peace even more.

  [Explanation] Yang Xiaming, a professor at Jiangsu School of Administration, was also a bell-cutter. In 1995, when the Chinese American writer Zhang Chunru was investigating in Nanjing, Yang Xiaming served as his translator.

It was this experience that prompted Yang Xiaming to devote himself to the study of the history of the Nanjing Massacre by the Japanese invaders.

  If you are behind, you will be beaten. This is a correct logic. It does not mean that it implies a (meaning) that we are strong and can bully others. It is not this concept.

We still want to be the defenders of peace. Why?

Because peace itself is not empty, it is realistic, and it is a vital factor to avoid these atrocities and avoid the recurrence of historical tragedies.
