Prosecutors have asked for a prison sentence for American rapper Killagram (Lee Jun-hee), who was put on trial for smoking marijuana.

At the trial on charges of violating the Act on Drug Management of Killagram (cannabis) held at the 11th Criminal Division of the Seoul Southern District Court on the 2nd, the prosecution requested the court to sentence the court to one year in prison and a fine of 200,000 won.

In his final statement, Killagram said, "Coming to Korea, I solved the difficult and lonely part in the wrong way. I will make sure that this does not happen again."

Killagram's legal representative said, "The defendant was a US citizen and was not fully aware of the illegality of cannabis in Korea. He had been broadcasting until recently, but the defendant lost all his work due to this incident. Through the trial process, the defendant I regret how foolish my mistake was and am deeply reflecting on it."

It is possible that Killagram could face deportation depending on the outcome of the trial. The Immigration Control Act stipulates that foreigners must be deported if they are sentenced to imprisonment or heavier punishment.

Previously, Killagram was arrested by the police as a current offender while inhaling marijuana at his home in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul in March.
