Already in April 2018 came the news that Abba would release new music.

Their manager confirmed that two new songs - Do not shut me down and I still have faith in you had already been recorded.

In May this year, the group announced that it was about five songs.

- When we had these two songs, it felt a little thin, "shall we not do some more?"

and we did some more and it turned out well and then we thought we would drive on and run an entire album, says Benny Andersson.

The album Voyage will be the first studio album in 40 years, since The visitors from 1981 with songs like Head over heels and Slipping through my fingers.

Abbatares

As previously rumored, there will also be a stage show with "abbots".

The original idea was a tour with holograms, but with the large stage construction, there will be a stationary stage show in London in May next year.

- What we have worked with for the past four and a half years is to do a concert with ourselves as digital figures, with a live band of ten people in an arena, which we are building, which takes 3,000 people.

Once the decision was made that some type of tour or hologram concert would take place, the idea for new songs was born, but Benny Andersson did not believe in it himself at first.

- Once we got so far that we would do something then we said that "if we had done this for real and gone out as 75-year-olds, we would have had at least two new songs".

I called Frida and Agnetha and asked if they wanted to sing in new songs and they said yes.

I was a little surprised.

Why?

- Abba has not spoken to any of us.

Agnetha has tried to stay away from participating, me too!

I want to be me, I do not want to be an Abba.

It went out the window when Mamma Mia started.

No Drake fan

According to Benny Andersson, the new songs will sound like they did before.

After hearing the first two songs in finished format, he thought:

- Damn it's good, it sounds just like it always did - Abba in cubic even though it's been 40 years.

When it comes to new influences, he is skeptical.

- When I listen to Drake or you name it, I think: "what are they doing, what are the ingredients in what works well now"? I do not understand that.
