2022 World Cup: Morocco beats Sudan and takes the lead of Group I

After the draw between Guinea-Bissau and Guinea on Wednesday (1-1), Morocco took the upper hand, Thursday, September 2, over Sudan (2-0).

This first success allows him to settle at the head of Group I before going to challenge the National Syli in Conakry.

, with Morocco. There is still a long way to go, but the Atlas Lions got off to a good start in the playoffs. Opposed to Sudan on Thursday, they did not tremble and won in Rabat (2-0).

The match quickly took a positive turn. Solid in a first aerial duel against two Sudanese, the athletic defender Nayef Aguerd (1.90m), who plays at Stade Rennes, remained on his feet and was able to take a half volley to open the scoring (10th ). Although domineering, the Moroccans failed to break before the break. The reassuring second goal came afterwards, with Ilias Chair in the game again. The Queens Park Rangers midfielder had already centered towards Aguerd on the first goal. This time, his center-shot was deflected by the Sudanese Mohamed Abuaagla Abdalla in his own nets (53rd).

Morocco thus scores its first three points which give it first place in Group I ahead of

Guinea and Guinea-Bissau

, 1 point each (1-1 Wednesday in Nouakchott).

Sudan brings up the rear with no points.
