In Russia, the area of ​​wildfires has decreased by more than 20%

"The total area of ​​forest fires in Russia per day decreased by 22.5% - to 240 thousand hectares," - the TASS reports the press service of the department.

It is noted that over the past day on August 28, 63 forest fires were extinguished on an area of ​​71,333 hectares.

The maximum area of ​​fires was recorded in Yakutia, where 23 fires operate on an area of ​​241,642 hectares, and in the Irkutsk Region (11 fires on an area of ​​35,932 hectares).

Earlier, the first deputy head of the EMERCOM of Russia, Alexander Chupriyan, said that the extinguishing of wildfires in Yakutia was almost completed.

On August 24, it was reported that in Yakutia, in connection with the stabilization of the forest fire situation, a phased withdrawal of the EMERCOM of Russia groupings began.
