In response to the crisis of the medical system due to the spread of the new coronavirus, Tokyo Joto Hospital in Koto-ku, Tokyo will be operated as a dedicated hospital for corona patients from the end of next month.

This is the first time that a new dedicated hospital has been established in response to a request from the national government and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to cooperate in securing beds based on the Infectious Diseases Control Law.

Tokyo Joto Hospital in Koto-ku, Tokyo will be newly dedicated to corona patients, and it is said that a maximum of about 50 beds will be secured from the end of next month by having patients who are currently hospitalized transfer to the hospital.



This hospital is under the umbrella of the Japan Community Health Care Organization, which is chaired by Shigeru Omi, the chairman of the government subcommittee. In response to a request for cooperation in accepting patients and securing beds, he decided to dedicate it to Corona patients.



The Japan Community Health Care Organization has reserved 870 beds for corona patients out of 57 hospitals nationwide, and says that a total of about 240 beds will be dedicated to corona patients at its affiliated hospitals in Tokyo.



Up to now, five medical institutions such as the Tokyo Metropolitan Hiroo Hospital in Shibuya Ward have been practically dedicated to corona patients in Tokyo, but according to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, in response to this request, it will be operated as a hospital dedicated to corona patients. It is the first time that it has been decided.
