Fifty-eight years after the famous speech of Pastor Martin Luther King in the United States, the video game Fortnite, associated with the magazine Time, proposes to go back in time using the speech but also images and explanations on the American civil rights movement. 

Martin Luther King's famous speech "I have a dream" is 58 years old.

The Fortnite video game decided on Saturday to organize a somewhat unprecedented tribute to the defender of civil rights for black Americans in the 1960s. Players will be able to enjoy a free interactive experience to retrace the pastor's footsteps.

A 20-minute dive in 1963

Usually, in Fortnite, players fight each other until only one survivor remains, but for this event, titled "Time March": no weapon and no combat.

Epic Games, the publisher of the game, has teamed up with the American magazine Time to reconstruct Martin Luther King's famous speech.

During this 20-minute interactive experience, players can walk their avatar around Washington's Lincoln Memorial, where Martin Luther King spoke on August 28, 1963. Huge screens everywhere show the pastor's speech in full.

Explanations, mini-games and photos

In addition to the speech, Fortnite players can visit a virtual museum retracing the history of the civil rights movement from Rosa-Parks to the steps of Selma in Mongomery, through photos, explanatory panels, but also quizzes and mini -games.

58 years ago, 250,000 demonstrators attended Martin Luther King's speech.
