While nearly 250 schools were damaged in the departments affected by the earthquake, the conditions for the start of the school year remain unclear.

The start of the school year, Thursday, September 9, promises to be complicated for the children of the departments of southern Haiti, hit by the earthquake.

More than 250 schools are either totally damaged or they have cracks and the premises are not safe enough for children to come there again",
explains Frantz Duval, editor of Le Nouvelliste.
“The government announced yesterday that the priority is to allow everyone to return to school in Haiti.
For the moment the Prime Minister has promised that the premises which have collapsed will be cleared, he has also promised support for parents, but it must be said that the Prime Minister has not deployed his plan.
We don't know what will happen when the premises are freed from the rubble, nor do we know how we will help the parents, ”he
adds.
